About the Artist:
Hi, My name is Alisha and I’m a 15-year-old, Australian based pet portrait artist. I absolutely love animals, especially dogs and birds. I have been running my art commissioning business since early 2022 and have been so lucky to draw some gorgeous animals over time! Although I mainly draw dogs, I really enjoy doing wildlife pieces, especially birds. I love to photograph reference photos for my bird pieces and attempt to capture the beautiful nature and temperament of the animal.
Why I draw?
Ever since I was a child i’ve always loved to draw, I started out with small little sketches and have progressed over time. My main inspiration for drawing has always been my pets. I currently own a rabbit named peach, and a dog named Callie. I also owned two amazing dogs – Tilly and Cara, who have sadly passed. My animals have always inspired me in odd ways and i’ve since strived to capture their spirits and personalities in my portraits. The joy that I felt when seeing a portrait of one of my pet’s really begun my passion for drawing others animals.
Whilst drawing is one of my passions, I also compete in dog sports as a junior handler with my dog Callie, and I enjoy doing photography. Callie and I train and compete in obedience, Rally O, tricks, and agility.
