Experience, judgement and connoisseurship – Focused on contemporary paintings and sculpture from South East Asia and the Australian Pacific region, asart began as Anthony Smith Fine Art and the specialist division Corporate Art in the late 1970s.
Anthony Smith studied Law at the University of Melbourne (Australia) and later Arts, majoring in Art History. He is still one of only a handful of art professionals, actually dealing and advising clients, to have tertiary qualifications in art.
In the late 1980s Anthony's attention was drawn to the art coming out of Asia, and this interest has grown over the years to become a passion. Anthony's knowledge and understanding of the art movements in Asia, particularly South East Asia, and his relationship with Asian artists ensure that asart is able to secure the finest pieces for collectors.
asart clients include both public and private collections around the world, as well as individual and corporate collectors drawn to Anthony's commitment to developing "collections rather than accumulations" of artwork and his rare level of experience, judgement and connoisseurship.
Award in China – Every year asart introduces new work from Asia/Pacific to international buyers via major art fairs and exhibitions. In 2011, at the Beijing International Art Exposition, asart received the "Most Influential Gallery" award (see image; click to enlarge) from the Ministry of Culture, People's Republic of China, in recognition of the quality and originality of the artists we exhibited.
asart has offices and representatives in Asia, Europe, the United States and Australia. As Anthony is traveling extensively to select interesting artworks, please contact him personally by email. Also join our mailing list and we will keep you informed about coming events, special offers and exciting works of contemporary Asian art!
