One of the most travelled Australian artists, settling for most of his adult life in London. Louis James was a determined and hard working artist who regarded himself as a figurative painter, although to some his works, particularly the large works here dating from 1962, appear to be abstraction. Yet, these works are figurative... a figure in what appears to be an alien landscape. Louis James is represented in most State collections in Australia and public collections in the United Kingdom.
